Baltimore Orioles starter Mike Mussina was in midseason form, as he helped his team beat the New York Yankees, 2-0, in 11 innings. Baltimore bumps their record to 57-69 with the win.

The game-ending blow was delivered by Clint Thomas in the bottom of the 11th. That's when he hit a 2-run home run off 29-year old left-handed pitcher Sparky Lyle to win it for Baltimore and cause the home crowd to erupt in celebration.

"I'm happy we won," said Mussina. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
