The New York Yankees got a superb performance from pitcher Stan Bahnsen. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Baltimore. The Orioles won the game, 2-0. Bahnsen threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The game was on the line with two out in the top of the seventh inning, but B J Ryan didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and New York trailing 2-0, Ryan retired Babe Ruth to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ryan, with a wink.
