Mariners Claim Late Win
|
In the 6-4 Seattle win over Cleveland, the impact of Jud Wilson was substantial. Wilson, who leads the AL with a .319 batting average, was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Kazuhiro Sasaki earned the save, his 28th in 33 tries. The Mariners move to 64-58 with the win, while the Indians drop to 55-64.
Seattle used a timely hit from Edgar Martinez to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a difference-maker.
"Guys seem to be putting together some really nice at-bats right now," said Mariners manager .
