Yankees Claim Late Win
|
The New York Yankees electrified the home crowd with a walk-off win.
The New York Yankees picked up a win at Yankee Stadium, knocking off the Minnesota Twins, 5-4. Starting pitcher Lefty Gomez was a big reason why. New York, now 67-47, holds down first place in the American League Eastern Division.
New York got a clutch hit from Howard Easterling. The pinch hitter socked a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was game-ender.
Easterling told a New York Times reporter that he was "very pleased" with the win.
