The Minnesota Twins got a superb performance from pitcher Bert Blyleven. Still, it wasn't enough to beat New York. The Yankees won the game, 2-1. Blyleven threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. Mariano Rivera picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-5. Joe Nathan suffered the loss. With the win, New York goes to 66-47, while the Twins fall to 64-54.

The game reached a climactic end in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 1-0, Aaron Judge delivered the decisive blow, stroking a fastball from Joe Nathan for a 2-run home run. Ballgame.

"We take it day by day here," said Judge, "and today was a good one for us."
