The Seattle Mariners got a magnificent effort from pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma, who kept Kansas City hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Mariners win at Safeco Field. Kansas City now has a record of 5-6.

With two out in the bottom of the fourth, Harold Reynolds put Seattle in front, 1-0, with a run-scoring single. The Mariners went on to win the ballgame.

"I thought Hisashi threw the ball well across the board," said Seattle manager .
