Win Makes Mariners 57-55
|
The Seattle Mariners topped the Tampa Bay Rays, 4-3, in American League action at Safeco Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Seattle pitcher Erik Hanson. The winning pitcher was Hanson, now 6-13. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Kazuhiro Sasaki finished to wrap up his 26th save.
Tied up with the Rays in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Mariners got a boost from third baseman Kyle Seager. With the bases loaded, Seager saw a first pitch fastball from David Price and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Seattle on top, 4-2.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Seager said.
With the win, Seattle raised its record to 57-55.
