Yankees Pocket 5-3 Win Against Chicago

The New York Yankees knocked off the Chicago White Sox, 5-3, in American League action at Yankee Stadium. New York pitcher and Lafayette, Louisiana, native Ron Guidry had an outstanding performance. At 63-46, the Yankees find themselves in first place in the American League Eastern Division.
Mickey Mantle hit a 2-run home run off Ed Walsh in the bottom of the first, which put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Mantle had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
"When Ron executes, it really doesn't matter what the other lineup is," said New York field general .
