Roy Partlow, who is on pace for 274 strikeouts this season, was locked in. The left-hander led the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-1 win against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field. In 6 innings, Partlow surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Los Angeles is now 54-56, while Cleveland is 51-59.
Andrelton Simmons had a big run-scoring double for the Angels in the top of the fifth inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Stan Coveleski and swatted a double to center. It was his 26th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Angels ahead, 2-0.
