Astros Suffer 5-3 Setback

Bullet Rogan, who is tied for 8th in the AL in quality starts with 16, had a strong outing for the Texas Rangers against the Houston Astros at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. The winning pitcher was fireballing right-hander Nolan Ryan. He tossed 89 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. Texas, now 40-66, holds down last place in the American League Western Division.
In the bottom of the 2nd, Texas took the lead on a 2-run single by Buddy Bell. At the time, the Rangers were trailing 1-0, but Bell's hit with two outs against Houston pitcher Shane Reynolds put them in front, 2-1.
