Red Sox Pick Up 4-3 Win Against Cleveland
|
The Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox met at Progressive Field to settle a score.
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Progressive Field, topping the Cleveland Indians, 4-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Cy Young. He played a principal role in the triumph. Young yielded 3 runs over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 9-10. Jonathan Papelbon picked up his 23rd save of the season.
Boston used the timely hitting of Carlton Fisk to seize the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Red Sox on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good team win," Young said. "I love it when a plan comes together."
The Red Sox move to 58-56 with the win, while the Indians drop to 50-58.
