Los Angeles Tops New York, 5-2, Claims 3-2 Series Lead
|
Game 5 was big. So was Don Sutton.
The Los Angeles starter rose to the occasion at Yankee Stadium, leading the Dodgers to a crucial 5-2 victory over the New York Yankees. Sutton threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball as the Dodgers won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Round 3.
Los Angeles used the timely hitting of Jack Fournier to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dodgers on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I thought I'd have a season or two to get accustomed to everything," Fournier said. "I didn't think I'd be here already."
Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
