Johnson has 3 hits, Ignites Oakland Offense
|
Getting a good performance from right fielder Bob L Johnson, the Oakland Athletics defeated the Cleveland Indians, 7-2. Johnson went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Athletics. Oakland starter Rube Waddell was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 7-8. The Athletics improved to 58-47.
Johnson had a key at-bat for Oakland in the bottom of the second. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave Oakland an early 3-0 lead.
"It was a solid team effort," said Johnson after the game.
