The Chicago White Sox had to overcome a good performance from Texas pitcher Rube Curry to claim a 3-2 win at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Curry went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Chicago, at 56-44, occupies first place in the American League Central Division.

A J Pierzynski drove in one run for Chicago. With one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Pierzynski had a clutch at-bat. Facing Texas hurler Akinori Otsuka, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the White Sox a 3-2 lead.

Pierzynski said afterward that "winning is the goal."
