Angels Lose, 2-0, as Twins Rally
|
In a well-pitched game between the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Angels, pitcher Ted Trent was superb. The Minnesota right-hander helped his team win, 2-0, in 10 innings. Minnesota reliever Firpo Marberry was credited with the win. His record goes to 3-6. Francisco Rodriguez took the loss for Los Angeles. Minnesota is first in the American League Central Division with a record of 56-43.
Minnesota used a timely hit from Tony Oliva to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Twins ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"We gutted it out and got the 'W'," said Oliva.
