The New York Yankees got a sterling performance from shortstop Roger Peckinpaugh, but the Texas Rangers still prevailed, 6-4. Peckinpaugh went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The win makes Texas 37-61.

Ivan Rodriguez had a big 2-run home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the second inning. With Texas leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Stan Bahnsen and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 4-1.

Texas manager called it "a pretty good win."
