The Tampa Bay Rays picked up a win at Tropicana Field, topping the Boston Red Sox, 3-2. On the mound for Tampa Bay was left-hander Scott Kazmir. He played a principal role in the triumph. Tampa Bay reliever Dan Wheeler snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jonathan Papelbon shouldered the loss. At 40-53, the Rays find themselves in last place in the American League Eastern Division.
The Rays got a clutch hit from catcher Dioner Navarro. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Rays.
"Was I getting worried?" said Rays manager . "Nope." Then he added, with a wink, "There was never a doubt in my mind."
