In a low-scoring contest, Chicago pitcher Red Faber was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win in 12 innings. Chicago reliever Keith Foulke picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Troy Percival absorbed the loss. Wilbur Wood sewed up the save, his 1st.
A J Pierzynski had a direct impact on the outcome. Pierzynski contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 12th inning to put Chicago up, 2-1.
"We scratched and clawed," said Pierzynski. "But we got the job done."
The White Sox now have a mark of 51-42.
