Diamondbacks Drop Mets, 3-2
|
Craig Swan pitched well, but the New York Mets still fell short, losing, 3-2, to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field. Zac Gallen earned the win to go to 7-2. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts in 7.1 innings of work. Jose Valverde saved it for Arizona.
Arizona used a clutch at-bat from Luis E Gonzalez to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said New York manager .
So far in 2014, Arizona is 26-26.
