Nationals Shut Out Diamondbacks, 5-0
|
Washington starter Bill Gullickson put a stranglehold on the Arizona offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Nationals to a 5-0 win. The win gives the Nationals a record of 11-27.
It could have been a different outcome for Washington, had it not been for Spike Owen, the 31-year old shortstop . Owen contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Washington up, 2-0.
"Nice win for us," said Owen. "Now we'll go after the next one."
