San Francisco Crafts 5-4 Win
|
Arizona center fielder Ketel Marte had a good game, even if his team did not. The Diamondbacks dropped a 5-4 decision to San Francisco at Chase Field. Marte was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Gary Lavelle, now 5-4, was credited with the win in 1.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 0. Brian Wilson locked down his 12th save.
San Francisco used a timely hit from Travis Jackson to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Giants ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"They played a better game than we did," said Arizona skipper .
The second-place Giants sport a record of 77-75.
