Big Day for Ott as Giants Down Diamondbacks, 12-5
Led by Mel Ott, the San Francisco Giants defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 12-5. Ott, a native of Gretna, Louisiana, slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Giants. With the victory, the Giants upped their record to 76-75.

With San Francisco leading 8-3 in the top of the fourth, Ott came up to bat against Arizona pitcher David Hernandez. Ott hit a slider to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 23rd home run of the season put the Giants on top, 11-3.

"Anytime we get it going, it puts a smile on my face," said Ott.
