Dodgers Come Back Late, Nip Diamondbacks
|
The Arizona Diamondbacks got a superb performance from pitcher Brandon Webb. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Los Angeles. The Dodgers won the game, 2-1. Webb threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Jonathan Broxton came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. Steve Howe recorded the save for Los Angeles, his 1st of the season.
Los Angeles used a clutch hit from Babe Herman to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dodgers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Herman said. "That's why you play the game."
With this game in the books, Los Angeles is 66-68, Arizona 55-78.
