Dunn Goes Off, But Nationals Win
|
The inspired effort of Arizona first baseman Adam Dunn was not enough to prevent a loss, 9-6, to the Washington Nationals. Dunn belted 3 home runs, while adding 6 RBI and scoring three times. Tyler Clippard was credited with the save, his 27th in 33 tries. The last-place Nationals go to 51-73.
One big at-bat came with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the seventh inning. Tim Raines Sr, who is tied for 9th in the NL in hits with 139, hit a double off Arizona pitcher Wade Miley. The Nationals went on to win the game.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Raines Sr, "and then get after it again."
