1917 American Giants Defeat White Sox

The series went seven games once again was a all Chicago affair as well. The White Sox, the MLB champions who won 100 games on the season and defeated the New York Giants in the world series faced the American Giants, champions of Black Baseball, who won nearly 80% of their games. Note the organized Negro National League wasn’t formed until 1920.

Bill Francis of the American Giants belted two triples in game seven on the way to a 5-4 win over the White Sox. Scoring the game and series winning run in game seven. Francis was named series MVP for his efforts. Team mate John Henry Lloyd batted .407 in the series. Lloyd was also on the Indianapolis club in the 1916 series.
