The Season Finale

The Season has come to an end and the playoff matchups are set. In the ALCS it will be the Chicago White Sox from the west against the New York Yankees from the east. In the NLCS it will the Dodgers hosting the Chicago Cubs. The Dodgers won 101 games, Yankees 99, White Sox 90 and the Cubs 87. 

The Yankees Micky Mantle had a strong September and overcame team mate Rogers Maris for the HR title at 51 to 49. Mickey also topped Roger in RBI 138 to 135. Mickey was named the MVP for his efforts. The Dodgers Bill Singer won 23 games one more than Mel Stottlemyre of the Yankees. Bill also held a slightly lower era than Mel and was named the Cy Young award winner.

The final all star team was; Bill Singer on the mound, Bill Freehan catcher, Norm Cash first base, Joe Morgan at second, Eddie Mathews at third, Rico Petrocelli at short, Billy Williams in left, Mickey Mantle in center and Hank Aaron in right.
