The White Sox retain a six game lead over the A's in the AL West and the Cubs have a slim one game lead over both the Pirates and Cards.
Roger Maris and team mate Mickey Mantle continue to vie for the home run championship at 32 and 31 dingers each. Maris and Ron Santo are tied for the RBI crown at 91. Maury Wills is running away with the stolen base lead, pun intended with 74 white Sonny Jackson and Lou Brock are miles behind with 39. Sammy Ellis of the Reds is still on top of pitching wins with Mel Stottlemyre of the Yankees. Ellis' win steak came to an end at 12 on July 3rd. Denny McLain contiunes to mow 'em down with 181 strikeouts.
