Magic was in the air and on the mound at Shibe Park, as Bill Foster held the Philadelphia 50 Phillies spellbound in his 4-0 shutout victory. The Chicago 26 American Giants pitcher went the distance, rang up 2 strikeouts, walked 4, and held the Phillies to 3 hits.<\/p>\n

\"He just had us in his thrall,\" Philadelphia 50 manager Eddie Sawyer said. \"We couldn't put anything together against him.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

04\/17 Ted Trent Holds Cardinals Down in Hamtramack<\/h3>\n
\n\t

Ted Trent kept the St. Louis 31 Cardinals hitters from doing much damage at Hamtramck Stadium in Detorit.<\/p>\n

St. Louis 31 could only muster 5 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Trent, who controlled them throughout the game. Detroit 32 won the contest, 1-0. Trent added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.<\/p>\n

\"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today,\" Trent told reporters after the shutout win. \"But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time.\"<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

04\/21 Hank Greenberg Player of the Week<\/h3>\n

Detroit 35 sports fans can't stop singing the praises of Hank Greenberg, who has been selected the AL Player of the Week.<\/p>\n

Greenberg was in a comfort zone all week, finishing with a .500 average (15-for-30), 12 RBIs and 3 home runs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>

04\/29 Beckwith Goes Deep 3 Times<\/h3>\n
\n\t

John Beckwith of the Lincoln Giants went on a hitting spree at Yankees Stadium and earned membership in the select club of hitters who have hit three home runs in a game. He blasted three into the stands in a loss, 8-7, to the St. Louis 31 Stars.<\/p>\n

\"I'm not happy with the outcome of the game, but it was still a great game for me,\" Beckwith said in the clubhouse following the loss. \"I have been making solid contact lately, but not getting any lift. Today I got it up in the air and out of the ballpark. I had my home run swing down pat. Got some good pitches to hit, too.\"<\/p>\n

The New York 30 first baseman did indeed have quite a game, collecting 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 7 RBIs and scoring 3 runs.<\/p>\n

John Beckwith grounded out in the 1st, hit a GRAND SLAM off Logan Hensley in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Logan Hensley in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Logan Hensley in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.<\/p>\n
