Artifical Turf Era 1969-1992

The Aftifical Turf or Expansion era spans from 1969-1992. Free agency, the designated hitter and artifical turf ball fields began in this era. Along with the artifical turf came the cookie cutter symetrical and domed stadiums. Top franchises in the era included, the Oakland Athletics, the "Big Red Machine" of Cincinnati, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers.
