Landis Era 1920-1946

The Landis era, named after then commishioner Judge Mountain Landis spans from 1920 to 1946. Another name for the era is the Lively Ball era, since something had to be done to get fans back in the ballparks after the Black Sox Scandle of 1919. The era was marked by some pretty lofty batting numbers. Sixty homers by Babe Ruth. Multiple players batting over .400 in many seasons. Some of the greatest players to ever don a pair of spikes came out of this era, Lou Gehrig, Rogers Hornsby, Jimmie Foxx, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams,  Josh Gibson, Mule Suttles and Heavy Johnson. On the mound there was Lefty Grove, Dizzy Dean, Satchel Paige, and Bullet Rogan. Just to name a few.
