1916 First Series Goes To Red Sox

Our first season 1916 the MLB champions, the Boston Red Sox meet the Black baseball champions, the Indianapolis ABCs. In this series a young Babe Ruth pitches for the Red Sox against an equally young Oscar Charleston of the ABCs. Babe pitched twice in the series. In the opener he lost in 11 innings allowing only 2 hits.

He pitched again in game five allowing 1 run on 4 hits for the win. In both contests he held Charleston hitless. The series goes to seven games where the Red Sox score two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the 5-4 game and series winner. Red Sox Duffy Lewis collected the game winning RBI in game seven and was named theSeries MVP.
