New York first baseman Dan Brouthers had a season that places him among the greats, winning the 1st Triple Crown in MLB history. Clearly one of the best players in the NL this year, he compiled a .385 batting average with 177 hits, 43 doubles, 12 triples, 16 home runs and 96 RBIs.
His skipper said, "I have been around a few years and have never seen anything like the year Dan had this year. It was truly remarkable."
