Detroit Shortstop Nets AL Award Monday, September 11th , 1916 Swinging a hot stick last week, Rabbit Maranville picked up the AL Player of the Week Award today. The 24-year-old shortstop for Detroit lashed 14 hits in 26 at-bats as he put together a .538 average with no home runs. Maranville also drove in 12 runs, scored 8 times and compiled a .556 OBP.
