The Washington Senators posted a 3-0 shutout over the Boston Red Sox behind a strong performance by Erskine Mayer. The Senators pitcher, who is tied for 10th in the AL in complete games with 17, held the Red Sox to 4 hits while walking 1 and fanning 5 in the route-going win.
"It feels good to be wearing a Washington Senators uniform today," the right-hander said, following the game.
This season, Mayer has compiled a 14-19 mark with a 2.71 ERA in 38 starts.
