Morton Earns July's Best Pitcher Honor Tuesday, August 1st , 1916 Guy Morton of the Detroit Tigers outdistanced his peers on the mound this month. He fashioned a fine 7-0 won-lost mark and 2.10 ERA in 7 starts to get the AL Pitcher of the Month honors. Morton had a very impressive July, finishing with 36 strikeouts in 60 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .224 average. Checking out his stats for the season, Morton has notched 20 wins and 6 losses in 28 starts. His ERA is 1.78 and he's struck out 136 batters in 237.2 innings. |
