Cleveland Stops DiMaggio Hit Streak Thursday, July 17th , 2014 The Cleveland Indians did something to Joe DiMaggio no team had done for the last 22 games -- they stopped him, ending his consecutive-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, they couldn't do the same to the Yankees, who came away with the 3-2 victory at Progressive Field. "Hey, I knew it wasn't going to last forever," the 22-year-old left fielder said of the demise of his streak. "It was a good ride while it lasted." So far this season, DiMaggio is batting .288 with 7 home runs. |
