Rays Get Dramatic 4-1 Triumph
Tampa Bay Rays starter Wilson Alvarez pitched his team past the Seattle Mariners in 10 innings, 4-1. Grant Balfour picked up the win in relief for Tampa Bay, while Kazuhiro Sasaki took the loss. The Rays now have a record of 31-33 with the win over Seattle.

Tampa Bay got a clutch hit from Greg Vaughn. The designated hitter launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Vaughn said.
