Late Heroics Net Giants 3-2 Win
|
The New York Mets could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Jacob deGrom into a win. Instead, the San Francisco Giants prevailed, 3-2, in 13 innings. deGrom threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The Giants now have a record of 36-26 with the win over New York.
The Giants got a clutch hit from center fielder Willie Mays. In the bottom of the 13th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Giants.
"This place was jumping at the end," Mays said.
