Twins Trump Astros, 6-2
|
Minnesota starter Johan Santana pitched effectively against the Houston Astros at Target Field. The left-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. Santana yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-4. The Twins win now puts them at 27-33.
Chuck Knoblauch, who is tied for 4th in the AL in triples with 6, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, the Minnesota second baseman hit a run-scoring single. That put the Twins in front, 2-1.
"Thought I threw pretty well and overall I felt good," said Santana.
