Indians Sting Rangers, 6-1
|
Cleveland Indians starter Bob Feller pitched effectively against the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The right-hander spearheaded his team's 6-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Feller surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. With the win, the Indians hiked their record to 33-29.
It could have been a different outcome for Cleveland, had it not been for Larry Doby, the 28-year old center fielder . Doby contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the second inning to put Cleveland up, 3-0.
Said losing manager : "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
