The Chicago Cubs faced a tough opponent in Philadelphia pitcher Pete Alexander, but still scratched out a win at Wrigley Field by a final score of 4-3 in 10 innings. Alexander went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Sean Marshall, now 2-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. With the win, Chicago elevates its record to 3-3.

The decisive blow was delivered by Kiki Cuyler in the bottom of the fifth when he hit a 2-run double off 28-year old right-handed pitcher Pete Alexander to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.
