Walsh Delivers 2-1 Win
|
Runs were at a premium in the Chicago-Los Angeles matchup.
In a tightly-contested game between the Chicago White Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitcher Ed Walsh was outstanding. The Chicago right-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in quality starts with 10, propelled his team's 2-1 win. Bobby Thigpen, credited with the save, is now 1 for 4 in save opportunities.
Walsh, the winner, is now 5-6. In 8 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 3 hits, while collecting 5 Ks. He essentially shut down the Los Angeles offense.
Chicago manager praised his team's "energy."
