San Diego turned a good effort from starter Randy Jones into a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Petco Park. The Padres won the game, 4-0. Trevor Hoffman was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 12 of 12 save opportunities. The win puts the Padres at 37-23, while the Pirates drop to 31-28.

San Diego starter Randy Jones showed the eye of a tiger. The left-hander allowed no runs, while limiting Pittsburgh to 2 hits over 8.2 innings. He was tough to hit.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Jones told reporters after the game.
