The performance of George Davis proved critical in helping Chicago beat Los Angeles, 5-4, in 10 innings. The White Sox designated hitter was 3 for 5 with 2 triples. He drove in 3 runs. Hoyt Wilhelm notched his 8th save in 10 chances. The loss makes Los Angeles 28-32.
Had Davis not come through in the top of the tenth, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Davis hit a run-scoring single. The White Sox took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
