Beat Goes On for Brewers, Win 2-1 Over Cubs
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs, pitcher Mike Caldwell was the difference between victory and defeat. The Milwaukee left-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Brewers win. Rollie Fingers earned his 11th save, after closing out the game. The wins continue to add up for Milwaukee. The latest makes it 7 in a row.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Brewers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when designated hitter Prince Fielder hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Clark Griffith and made the score 2-0, Brewers. Fielder was 1-3.
Said Chicago manager : "They pitched the heck out of us."
