The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 5-4, in National League action at Citizens Bank Park. New York pitcher Jacob deGrom had a standout performance. Skip Lockwood saved it for New York. The win boosts the Mets to 31-25. The loss puts the Phillies at 32-23.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for David Wright? The 24-year old third baseman Wright stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put New York up, 5-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"I was hoping to make good contact," said Wright. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
