Chicago White Sox starter Ed Walsh was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the San Diego Padres, 3-2. The White Sox, at 23-33, sit in last place in the American League Central Division.

Chet Lemon helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Lemon told the Chicago Gazette.
