The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Fenway Park, downing the Atlanta Braves, 4-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Smoky Joe Wood, who played a pivotal role in the win. Jonathan Papelbon earned the save, his 11th, for the Red Sox. Boston goes to 28-25, Atlanta to 29-25.
Dustin Pedroia had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Boston. With the bases loaded and the Red Sox leading 3-0, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Atlanta skipper .
