Matt Kemp batted in 4 runs to lead Los Angeles to a win over Pittsburgh. The final score was 6-5. Kemp chipped in 1 single and 1 home run. The winner was Don Drysdale in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Cecilio Guante took the loss. Takashi Saito sewed up the save, his 12th.

Had Babe Herman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Herman hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Dodgers.
