Los Angeles turned a good performance from starting pitcher Dazzy Vance into a 3-2 triumph over the Cincinnati Reds at Dodger Stadium. Vance got the win, improving to 8-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The 'W' lifts Los Angeles's record to 23-31.
In the bottom of the sixth, Los Angeles catcher Roy Campanella gave his team the lead. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Campy hit his 6th home run of the year. Cincinnati pitcher Clay Carroll surrendered it. With that, the Dodgers jumped in front, 3-2.
After the game, Los Angeles manager applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
